Organise your own fundraising event

We are so pleased you want to fundraise for us and you can still support our services whilst abiding with current government restrictions, and have some fun along the way.  With your help we are making sure no-one faces their cancer experience alone. We have advice, support, promotional materials and fundraising staff who would love to help you create your event.

How to support Cancer Patients from the comfort of your home

1. Decide on the virtual fundraising activity that suits you best – (see our list of ideas below).
2. Send us an email to [email protected] to let us know about your fundraising idea, so that we can wish you luck and help make your fundraiser a success.
3. Set up your platform to collect donations. We recommend the platforms www.idonate.ie or Facebook Fundraisers, but if you’d prefer to use another one that’s ok too.
4. Invite your family, friends and colleagues to make a donation by sharing your online fundraising page with them.

Some Virtual Fundraising ideas

• Virtual Birthday

  • Have you a birthday coming up but can’t celebrate it in style this year? Set up an online fundraising page via Facebook  in support of Cancer Care West and invite your friends to help you celebrate online. Ask them to donate to your page in lieu of a birthday present. A perfect way to mark your birthday.

• 5K Challenge

  • Feeling active? Why not set yourself our 5K everyday challenge! Walk, run or jog your way to health and fitness, whilst adhering to the current government guidelines. Set up a fundraising page via idonate.ie and ask your friends to sponsor you.

If you’re feeling braver, then try beating your record time everyday!

• Beard Shave

  • As we sadly cannot attend our hairdressers at the moment, why not take this opportunity to grow your beard or your lovely locks and have an official virtual shave in support of Cancer Care West.

Set up your online fundraising page via www.idonate.ie or Facebook and get your friends to sponsor your efforts.

Or if you’re feeling braver, then why not dye your locks a funky colour! Perhaps your friend who donates the most money gets to choose your hair dye colour(s)!

• Virtual Classes

  • Have you a skill that you can teach? Why not share your expertise and deliver an online class (yoga, fitness, make up, pet grooming – whatever you are skilled in) and ask your viewers to make a donation to access your online class. Set up a fundraising page at idonate.ie or Facebook. Not only will you be raising much needed funds to support our Cancer Support Services but you will also be helping others to get through the lockdown boredom and learn something new. Smoky eye anyone?!

• Virtual Night In

  • Sadly our social lives have come to a halt, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun.
    Host your own event online. Perhaps a virtual music night, a quiz night or a movie night – and ask your friends or viewers to donate the money that they would have spent on a typical night out. You can set up a fundraising page online via www.idonate.ie or Facebook, or alternatively just ask people to make a donation via our website www.cancercarewest.ie
